CNC Programmer/Machinist

We are looking for an individual to work in our tool and die department who is willing to grow with the company. A person with mechanical aptitude will excel in this environment.  Prior related experience of 4 – 10 years is preferred.  Military training and experience may substitute for manufacturing experience.  To apply for the position, please request a copy of our application or forward your resume in Word or PDF format to

Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:

CNC Program Tasks

  • Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine program input such as hole sizes, tool sizes, dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine the part.
  • Prepares geometry using CAD/CAM software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Determines workflow of components through CNC equipment

CNC Machining Tasks

  • Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations. Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work piece on machine according to setup instructions
  • Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines
  • Loads control media from network into machine control console or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.
  • Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece, and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Conducts prove-outs and manual programming during setups as needed.
  • Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
  • Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.
  • Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

  • Self-motivated individual who is able to problem solve, has good reasoning skills, is able to take direction and follow through with minimal supervision.
  • Good reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Able to apply mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Able to use or learn to use micrometers, calipers, rulers and computerized measuring equipment and document quality control charts as needed
  • Mechanical aptitude

Metal Stamping Press Operator

Hours as needed on day and evening shifts. Must be available for overtime, as needed.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • This person will operate the specialized metal stamping press lines; must be flexible when assigned their schedule of operation, which may include a variable shift and occasional overtime
  • Operation of automatic and semi-automatic presses; operation of associated equipment; minor tool changes and maintenance, handling, use, and installation of materials and related fluids; inspection and quality assurance responsibilities
  • Operate fork truck

Other Duties:

  • Participate in lean/5S programs
  • Adhere to all safety rules and instructions

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

  • This person must be self-motivated and able to problem solve
  • Good reading, writing, and communication skills
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and decimals
  • Know how to read a micrometer, vernier, and ruler, and be willing to learn and use computerized control panels and measuring equipment, as needed
  • An ability to interpret and document quality control chart data is a must

NOTE: Some previous experience preferred.  This position requires successful completion of the PMA Press Operator, Lockout/Tagout Safety and Fork Lift Operator training programs. This training involves extensive classroom and on-the-job instruction and will provide the operator with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties. Training is performed on site.
